The sincerest form of flattery
Differentiation is one of the fundamental strategies of modern advertising and marketing.
Which made it all the more surprising when industry colleagues drew our attention to the recent activities of a competitor agency.
Take this integrated blog-come-website.
An innovation in our category, in the last week it’s been rebuilt just down the road seemingly to the same set of plans.
Or The Bunker, a DM GROUP innovation of three years, which has also reappeared at the same place as The Vault.
A name, sentiment and use of striking similarity.
It makes us wonder what other initiatives have been adopted. Our thoughtDM at weekly WIPs? Our birthdayDM for a client’s special day? Our drinkDM for refreshing meetings?
But on reflection it should come as no surprise.
Three of their six senior staff learned their craft at trademarkDM, a heritage proudly promoted on their website.
And while we’re flattered others would want to seek our people and ideas, we’d hope they and you would expect them to be different.

A super night for winning
Monday night saw two of THE DM GROUP’s clients win at the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees Awards for Excellence 2009.
UniSuper collected the Gold Communication Award for its Decisions 101 online tutorial.
In fact, it’s the third industry award the trademarkDM-clickDM developed tutorial has won this year.
Also collecting on the night was HOSTPLUS.
It picked up the Silver Communications Award for its Tax File Number campaign, again developed by trademarkDM and clickDM.
So it really was a super night.
For our clients.
And us.

Our PLAN for Christmas

As our regular readers will know, THE DM GROUP sponsors five children – two boys and three girls – with PLAN.
Yesterday, our CRS team despatched a Christmas package for each of them.
For the boys: a mini stationery set and soccer ball. For the girls: a mini stationery set and skipping rope. And of course, a personalised card from everyone at THE DM GROUP.
We hope you PLAN to spread a little Christmas cheer too.

Celebrating with a few SNAGS

Last Friday we topped off the hair raising month of Movember with a BBQ and a few SNAGS on our rooftop.
Thanks to efforts of the MoBros and our Molympic organisers we raised the well-round figure of $1,000.
Special mention goes to Nina Ee for her historic Public Float and last minute $2.50 contribution – her title of Miss Movember 2009
is well deserved.
Equally deserved is Andy Bannister’s title of Mr Movember 2009
for best individual fund raising effort – showing just what can be achieved when you actually read the instructions.
Congratulations also go to David Findlay for Best Mo. And self-proclaimed title of Alpha Male.
While Ian Ross was sent home with a bottle of Movember branded Heinz Big Red. And the title of Worst Mo.
